SAINT DRAGON
Plot
Saint Dragon is an arcade game ( coin-op ) released by Jaleco in 1989. It looks a lot like Dragon Breed of the same year. It has been then ported by The Sales Curve in 1990 for the Amiga and Atari ST and other home computers and systems of that time.
The galaxy is threatened by an evil race of cyborgs. Half animal, half machine, the cyborgs have already conquered most of the galaxy and now have their eyes focused on the last hope of the galaxy itself, ”Planet of the Golden Dragon”. A solitary mechanical dragon (the Dragon Saint), disappointed by the actions of its comrades, rebels and takes action to prevent their invasion on the Golden Dragon planet.
Gameplay
Saint Dragon is a side-scrolling shooter, challenging and playable, consisting of 6 several levels. The tail of the mechanical dragon that the player controls is invulnerabile to enemy attacks and it damages any enemy that touches it. The head of the dragon is the “shuttle” of the game, and a direct hit from an enemy will cause the loss of a life.
At various times in a level, bronze eggs appear and when they are struck, will release upgrades for weapons and speed. The game is provided with an overall medium difficulty level.
